Singers Showcase: Forever Whitney Houston
Berklee’s Singers Showcase presents *Forever Whitney Houston*, a large-scale tribute to Whitney Houston’s artistry, performance style, and lasting influence. The concert brings together a globally representative student ensemble from across Berklee, with original arrangements, new orchestrations, interdisciplinary collaborations, and interpretations ranging from Houston’s best-known anthems to deeper selections from her catalog.
The production examines Houston’s impact on pop, R&B, gospel, soul, and film music while celebrating the vocal technique, emotional directness, versatility, and commanding stage presence that earned her the nickname “The Voice.” It also reflects on her musical heritage: Houston was the daughter of gospel and soul singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of Dionne Warwick, and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin. Her accomplishments include more than 220 million records sold worldwide, six Grammy Awards from 25 nominations, the Recording Academy’s 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The program highlights landmark recordings including *The Bodyguard* soundtrack, *The Preacher’s Wife*, and “I Will Always Love You.”
