Author Talk and Craft: Hinda Mandell
Author and educator Hinda Mandell leads a discussion about craftivism and the ways handcraft has been used to respond to violence, war, illness, isolation, abortion politics, and other social issues. The conversation draws on her books about global craftivist movements and the relationship between abortion politics and handwork, while inviting participants to connect with others interested in social justice in the arts.
The discussion is followed by a hands-on craft session led by Mandell. Participants will make craft ribbons celebrating everyday accomplishments and “small wins,” such as getting a good night’s sleep, taking a walk, or reaching inbox zero. All materials are provided, and people of every craft experience level are welcome.
