DeRay Davis

DeRay Davis brings his sardonic, streetwise comedy to The Wilbur. Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, Davis developed a stand-up style rooted in personal stories and sharp observations about race, poverty, family dysfunction, and his experiences growing up in the city’s projects. His routines can be vulgar and droll while also being candid and socially pointed.

Davis broke through at Atlanta’s Laffapalooza Festival, later winning the Comedy Central Laugh Riots Competition and appearing at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and the Cedric the Entertainer Festival. He has also built an extensive acting and writing career, with appearances in films including *Barbershop*, *Barbershop 2: Back in Business*, *Jiminy Glick in La La Wood*, *Johnson Family Vacation*, *The Fog*, *School for Scoundrels*, *License to Wed*, *Semi-Pro*, *Imagine That*, *Life as We Know It*, and *Old Dogs*. His television credits include *Entourage*, *Reno 911!*, *Premium Blend*, and *Hip Hop Squares*, and he has contributed voice and writing work to projects associated with Kanye West, *The Boondocks*, and *Black Dynamite*. His Showtime special is *DeRay Davis: Power Play*.
