The Getaway Driver

The Getaway Driver is a new drama inspired by the true story of Katherine Ann Power and Clare Schroeder. Set against the political unrest of 1970, the play follows Power, a college student who joins an activist group protesting the Vietnam War, and Schroeder, who is forced to mature under the shadow of her father’s killing when the group’s resistance turns fatal. After disappearing and spending decades on the FBI’s Most Wanted List, Power reemerges seeking redemption and must face Schroeder and the history that altered both of their lives. Framed with the tension of a true-crime thriller, the play examines how far people should go when pursuing what they believe is right.

Written by Deborah Salem Smith and Charlie Thurston and directed by Curt Columbus, the production is a rolling world premiere presented with Trinity Rep and Northern Stage.
