Hadestown

106 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116

Hadestown is an acclaimed musical by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin. The production reimagines the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and of Hades and Persephone as a haunting, hopeful love story about whether devotion can overcome fate. Its journey moves between the world above and the underworld, exploring the tensions between industry and nature, doubt and faith, fear and love.

The show features a dynamic ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, with Mitchell’s music and Chavkin’s theatrical vision at its center. Hadestown won eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
