Spotlight Tour: Disavowed, with Julianne Wu ’28
Spotlight Tour: Disavowed, led by Harvard undergraduate Julianne Wu ’28, examines how acts of disavowal can illuminate, disturb, or challenge authority. The tour considers three works: *Bearded Man, Possibly Emperor Macrinus* (Roman, early to mid-3rd century CE), Max Beckmann’s *Self-Portrait in Tuxedo* (1927), and Franz Kline’s *High Street* (1950).
Part of the Harvard Art Museums’ student-led Spotlight Tour program, the event offers a thematic, conversational look at objects selected by the guide. The program trains Harvard students to develop original, research-based tours while building skills in visual analysis, critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership. This tour is supported by the Ho Family Student Guide Fund.
