Free Matinee Series 2026 – Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is presented as part of the Movies as Medicine Free Matinee Series, which offers classic films as opportunities for comfort, connection, and community. The screening follows an aging silent-film star, Gloria Desmond, who is determined to revive her career. She brings in a young screenwriter, William Holden, believing he can help orchestrate her comeback, but his attempt to control the situation collapses into a volatile story of obsession, violence, madness, and death.
A post-film conversation circle will follow the screening. Matthew Taylor, a retired educator from the Waring School in Beverly, will lead the discussion, and everyone is welcome to participate.
