William Friedkin’s *The Guardian* is a supernatural horror film about a young couple whose seemingly ideal live-in babysitter conceals a terrifying connection to ancient forces. As the sitter’s true intentions emerge, the new parents must fight to save their newborn child’s soul. The film stars Jenny Seagrove, Dwier Brown, and Carey Lowell, and is based on Dan Greenburg’s novel *The Nanny*. It marked Friedkin’s first horror film since *The Exorcist*.
