The Janes Reading
The Janes is a public reading of Kate Hamill’s brand-new play inspired by the Jane Collective, the radical feminist network that operated in Chicago from 1968 to 1972. The group defied the law to provide approximately 11,000 illegal abortions. The play explores the complications, conflict, joy, and power of collective activism while asking what people might sacrifice to spark a revolution. This is the play’s first public reading.
