New England Poetry Club Reading: Jean Flanagan, Cindy Goncalves, Anastasia Vassos
This New England Poetry Club reading features Jean Flanagan, Cindy Goncalves, and Anastasia Vassos. Each poet is scheduled to read from their work, followed by an opportunity to speak with the poets and have copies of their books signed.
Jean Flanagan is the author of three poetry collections, including *Ibbetson Street*, *Black Lightning*, and *The Language of Two*. Her fourth book, *A Hard Winter for Living*, combines prose and poetry. She helped found the Arlington Center for the Arts and is Arlington, Massachusetts’s Poet Laureate Emeritus.
Cindy Goncalves is a holistic practitioner, entrepreneur, self-described “quantum poet,” and author of two poetry books, with a third forthcoming. Her writing examines identity, belonging, healing, resilience, and personal transformation, drawing on her experience as the child of immigrants raised in Scituate, Massachusetts.
Anastasia Vassos is the author of *Note to Self* (2026), *Nostos* (2023), and *Nike Adjusting Her Sandal* (2021). Her work has appeared in journals and anthologies including *RHINO*, *Whale Road Review*, *Salamander*, *Thrush*, and *Comstock Review*. She has received nominations for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and Best New Poets, and her poem “Rough Marble” won the New England Poetry Club’s 2026 Amy Lowell Prize.
