Rampage (1989)
Rampage (1989) is a stark, provocative thriller directed by William Friedkin. The film follows Charles Reece, a well-liked young man who appears to be an ideal citizen before carrying out a horrific shooting spree. The district attorney assigned to prosecute him, Anthony Fraser, seeks the death penalty despite his own opposition to capital punishment.
As Fraser becomes increasingly immersed in the case, he confronts a justice system that might release Reece on the grounds of criminal insanity. The experience forces him to question his principles and recognize an unsettling similarity between his own convictions and those of the murderer.
