Textile Talismans: Printed Pockets

Sat, Nov 14, 2026at 1:00 PM
25 Evans Way, Boston, MA
Free

Textile Talismans: Printed Pockets is a hands-on Open Studio workshop led by textile and sculpture artist Charlie Dov Schön. Participants will create fabric pouches inspired by diasporic Jewish textile motifs from the age of Rembrandt, considering how pockets and pouches carry cherished objects, memories, and sacred items across countries and generations.

Schön’s interdisciplinary practice brings together textiles, poetics, ritual, material culture studies, and grief. Her work explores spiritual objects as “data collectors” and scientific practice as a form of prayer. She lives and works in Somerville, Massachusetts, and has presented work at Boston City Hall, Brandeis Kniznick Gallery, Tufts University Art Galleries, the Wellin Museum of Art, and New York Textile Month. Her residencies include Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Open AIR Montana, and Art Farm Nebraska.
