Chris Botti
Chris Botti brings his acclaimed trumpet artistry to The Wilbur for two performances centered on his Blue Note Records album *Vol. 1*. The Grammy-winning instrumentalist has spent nearly three decades working across jazz and popular music, collaborating with artists including Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Steven Tyler, Andrea Bocelli, Herbie Hancock, and Yo-Yo Ma.
The *Vol. 1* project marks a return to a smaller, acoustic-jazz setting after years of large-scale orchestral arrangements and prominent guest appearances. Botti focuses on his trumpet playing, his band, and classic standards, while retaining the cinematic drama, warmth, and emotional intensity that have defined his sound. The album draws inspiration from jazz landmarks by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, and Brad Mehldau, and includes interpretations of “Danny Boy,” “Blue in Green,” “My Funny Valentine,” “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “Fix You,” and “Someday My Prince Will Come,” among others.
