Featuring: A Far Cry, Boston Children's Chorus, Kristin Renee Young, Clare McNamara, Brian Giebler, Paul Max Tipton

A Far Cry presents *Mighty Fortress* in the soaring sanctuary of Old South Church, bringing together orchestra, chorus, and four vocal soloists for a program about resilience, conviction, and the strength found in collective action. Curated by Crier Alex Fortes, the concert features the Boston Children’s Chorus alongside soprano Kristin Renee Young, mezzo-soprano Clare McNamara, tenor Brian Giebler, and bass Paul Max Tipton.

The program connects Johann Sebastian Bach’s 1723 setting of Martin Luther’s hymn “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” with Julius Eastman’s 1979 work *Gay Guerrilla*, both drawing on the hymn’s themes of steadfastness and resistance. The concert opens with inti figgis-vizueta’s *Talamh (land)*, a string-orchestra work inspired by the composer’s memories of Ireland’s mountains, streams, and forests. The combined forces of orchestra, chorus, and soloists make this A Far Cry’s largest collaboration of the season.
