Matinée en Español
Matinée en Español presents *Sueño en otro idioma* (2017), a Spanish-language Mexican film about a young linguist who travels into the Mexican jungle to study and preserve a mysterious Indigenous language. The language is nearly extinct: its only two remaining speakers have been estranged for 50 years and refuse to speak to each other. As the linguist tries to reconcile the two former friends, he uncovers a secret from their past and from the heart of the jungle that threatens the possibility of the language’s revival.
The film won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for World Cinema Dramatic and was nominated for the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize.
