Being Heumann
Being Heumann is a feature film directed by Academy Award winner Siân Heder, whose work includes *CODA*. Based on true events, the film follows a young disabled woman and a determined coalition of outsiders who take over a federal building after their demands for action are ignored. Their occupation grows into the longest seizure of a federal building in American history, forcing a reluctant bureaucrat to confront the movement and helping launch a transformative fight for the rights of millions of disabled people.
Ruth Madeley leads the cast, with Mark Ruffalo and Dylan O’Brien also featured. The Friday evening screening includes an in-person introduction and post-film discussion with actors Andrew Pilkington, Siena Rafter, and Matthew August Jeffers.
