Featuring: Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Kazuki Yamada, Boston Symphony Orchestra

Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra for George Gershwin’s jazz-inflected Piano Concerto in F, conducted by Kazuki Yamada. The program also features Ottorino Respighi’s vivid musical portraits of Rome—Fountains of Rome and Roman Festivals—and opens with Maurice Ravel’s reflective Pavane for a Dead Princess.

Yamada, who has previously conducted the BSO twice at Tanglewood, makes his Symphony Hall debut. Thibaudet brings his distinctive, jazz-seasoned style to Gershwin’s concerto, which combines the composer’s classical craftsmanship with the energy of jazz.
