Dark Passage
Dark Passage is a 1947 film noir directed by Delmer Daves, presented in a 35mm screening. The film follows an escaped prisoner who heads toward San Francisco with an unclear purpose, encountering a city portrayed as a threatening maze of surveillance and suspicion. Its first half uses a first-person camera perspective, placing viewers inside the protagonist’s experience.
Starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Bruce Bennett, the film is described as the least-known of Bogart and Bacall’s collaborations, as well as one of their most tense and unusual. The screening is part of the Harvard Film Archive’s “Visions of a City, Or A Weekend in San Francisco” series.
