A Golden Wire: Timæus
A Golden Wire: Timæus is an intimate Boston Symphony Orchestra Creation Festival program exploring the relationship between music, cosmology, and creation. Inspired by Plato’s *Timæus* and the ancient concept of the “music of the spheres,” the event considers how musical proportions were once understood as reflecting the order of the cosmos.
The program brings together English Elizabethan and Jacobean compositions with Italian instrumental music. Through performance and intellectual inquiry, it examines a worldview in which harmony governs not only music, but also the movements of the planets, the human body, and the human voice.
