Bert Seager's Standard Deviation
Bert Seager’s Standard Deviation is a jazz quintet led by pianist and composer Bert Seager. The two-horn hard-bop group performs Seager’s arrangements of jazz standards as well as his own melodic, singable compositions, leaving room for spontaneous interaction and improvisation. The intimate setting at The Lilypad highlights the band’s close musical chemistry and the communal character of live jazz.
Seager is a pianist, composer, recording artist, and educator who has performed at international jazz festivals in Canada, Peru, Bulgaria, Jordan, Ecuador, Israel, China, and Japan. He is a three-time MacDowell Colony fellowship recipient and has released 18 internationally distributed CDs. His work has been praised for its optimism and exuberance.
