The Sound of Music
The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The Sound of Music comes to Boston in a critically acclaimed North American touring production. The beloved story follows Maria, a spirited nun who leaves the convent to become governess to the von Trapp children, discovering love, resilience, family, and the transformative power of music along the way. The production features familiar songs including “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and “Edelweiss.”
Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, the musical has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, based on the writings of Maria Augusta Trapp. The production celebrates the enduring legacy of the stage musical and the 1965 Oscar-winning film.
