AMERICAN THEATER
AMERICAN THEATER is a documentary about a theater director who has been “canceled” and gathers a group of conservative performers at an abandoned cabin in rural Georgia. Together, they plan retaliation against Atlanta’s theater community by creating a musical about the 1692 Salem witch trials. Blending the observational spirit of *American Movie* and *Gates of Heaven* with a distinctly Southern sense of eccentricity, the film portrays a group of complex, colorful people who resist simple political or personal labels.
This Massachusetts premiere will include an introduction by filmmakers Dylan Frederick and Nicholas Clark, followed by a post-screening question-and-answer session.
