Airtable for Community History Workshop
Airtable for Community History Workshop is a beginner-friendly introduction to Airtable, a no-code tool that combines spreadsheet and database functions. Participants will explore how Airtable can organize complex relationships and structures for a community history project or other research project, using a short database-design exercise to practice creating tables, entering data, and using views and interfaces to discover new insights. No previous technical experience is required.
The workshop is led by Joel Lee, data engineer in the Digital Scholarship Group at Northeastern University Library. His background includes research and a fellowship in Digital Humanities at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, as well as work with the Price Lab for Digital Humanities and Penn Libraries. His interests include digital tools for historical research, community history, newspapers, and the ways data can model, represent, and visualize the arts and humanities.
