Café Gherkinforke
Café Gherkinforke is an international contemporary music project built around a suite of 15 short works, each approximately three and a half minutes long. Composers from around the world were invited to collaborate with saxophone and string quartets in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Kosovo, the Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The resulting program spans traditional and contemporary classical music, film music, jazz fusion, experimental work, and dance-hall styles.
The performance features Boston-based saxophone quartet Jade Quartet, which won the Boston University Chamber Music Competition in 2025. Its members are professional musicians and educators who have performed at Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston and Carnegie Hall in New York. The quartet’s members studied and worked in France, Spain, and the United States, bringing varied musical backgrounds to their performances and collaborations with composers.
