Design and Sew: DIY Hair Scrunchies [#teencentral]

Design and Sew: DIY Hair Scrunchies is a beginner-friendly sewing workshop in the Makerspace Lab at Teen Central. Participants will design and sew a hair scrunchie while learning basic hand stitches that can also be used for garment repairs, hemming, and replacing buttons. No previous sewing experience is required, and all materials are supplied.

The program takes place in The Lab at Teen Central, a teen-only creative technology space equipped with computers and creative software, 3D printers, an audio booth, sewing machines, Cricut cutting machines, and more. The space serves Boston and Massachusetts students interested in exploring technology, developing creative skills, and becoming digital citizens.

Registration: Required. Registration closes November 9 at 12:00pm, and 10 seats remain.

Ages: Teens ages 13–18; The Lab is open to students in grades 6–12 or ages 12–17.

Materials: All materials for the project are provided.

Experience level: Beginners welcome; no sewing experience is necessary.
