Christian Wiman and Tracy K. Smith
Christian Wiman and Tracy K. Smith present a special pre-concert reading and conversation centered on creation. They will assemble poetry and prose from their own acclaimed work and from writers across different eras, exploring origins, wonder, imagination, and the human impulse to make. The program offers a literary response to Haydn’s *The Creation*, emphasizing how creation can unfold through language, image, breath, and thought.
Wiman is a poet, former editor of *Poetry* magazine, and author of the National Book Award finalist *Every Riven Thing*. Smith, who served as U.S. Poet Laureate from 2017 to 2019, is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of *Life on Mars*. Their appearance is part of the broader *Creation* festival.
