Davóne Tines: What Creation Sounds Like
Davóne Tines: What Creation Sounds Like explores how stories of humanity’s beginnings might illuminate the present and future. Bass-baritone Davóne Tines and pianist John Bitoy join innovative composer and pianist Vijay Iyer for a program combining live performance, improvisation, conversation, and musical examples.
The event draws on works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Duke Ellington, Robert Schumann, Alice Coltrane, and Philip Glass, along with excerpts from *Creation*, a new work by Osvaldo Golijov, David Henry Hwang, and Leah Hager Cohen. It is presented in partnership with the Harvard Department of Music.
