2nd Shift Concert: Peter Mulvey & Jenna Nicholls Present: Floyd Mercantile

Peter Mulvey and Jenna Nicholls bring their collaborative project *Floyd Mercantile* to the 2nd SHIFT Music Series. The project grew out of five days of remote recording in an old general store in Floyd, Virginia, whose name became the project’s title. Their set combines original songs with selections from the Great American Songbook, including “Skylark” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.”

The performance highlights the contrast and connection between Mulvey’s smoky vocal style and Nicholls’ bright, expressive melodies. The collaboration is presented as an intimate musical conversation crossing eras and genres. The artists are performing only a small number of live dates in support of the project, as part of the museum’s fall 2026 2nd SHIFT season.
