Letterpress Printing on Fabric Workshop
Letterpress Printing on Fabric Workshop is a one-day, in-person, hands-on class led by Mitchel Ahern at the Museum of Printing. Participants will explore traditional letterpress methods for creating designs on fabric and will print their own work on provided flour-sack dish towels.
The five-hour workshop covers a range of fabric materials, including muslin, drill, canvas, cotton T-shirts, and flour-sack dish towels. Instruction includes the characteristics of different inks, several impression methods, and techniques for working in color and achieving registration. Demonstrations and examples will include Ahern’s fabric-printed dish towels, canvases, and large horizontal and vertical scrolls. Participants who practice linoleum-block cutting are encouraged to bring their own blocks or prints for use during the workshop. Pizza lunch is provided, and space is limited.
