Adult. & A Place To Bury Strangers

ADULT. and A Place To Bury Strangers perform at The Sinclair in Cambridge. ADULT., the Detroit-based duo of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller, are known for combining avant-garde electronics and punk with an intentionally unsettling atmosphere. The event page highlights ADULT.’s extensive recording history and their album *PERCEPTION IS/AS/OF DECEPTION*, a nine-song work inspired by uncertainty, perception, and ideas drawn from writers and artists including Merleau-Ponty, Goethe, Aldous Huxley, and Jean Cocteau.

ADULT. have released seven albums over more than two decades on labels including DAIS, Mute, Ghostly International, Thrill Jockey, Third Man Records, Clone Records, and their own Ersatz Audio. They have also remixed artists such as Liars, John Foxx, and Barry Adamson, and have performed with Nitzer Ebb, L7, Severed Heads, and Gary Numan. The event page describes *PERCEPTION IS/AS/OF DECEPTION* as having been recorded in a completely black, windowless basement between May and September 2019, with the band using sensory deprivation to explore the nature of perception.
