The Funktones

The Funktones are a tribute band celebrating the soulful, rhythm-driven music of mid-century artists. Their repertoire includes songs associated with Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Bill Withers, Billy Preston, and the Isley Brothers, performed with an emphasis on rhythmic precision and soulful expression.

The band features Darryl Butler on lead vocals, Steve Gutherz on keyboards and blues harp, Dale Ellenberg on drums, and Gabe Weiss on bass. Butler brings more than 30 years of choral experience and a vocal style rooted in R&B, jazz, and gospel. Gutherz performs across jazz, Latin jazz, fusion, R&B, and funk. Ellenberg is known for his deep-in-the-pocket drumming across styles including contemporary jazz, Dixieland, classic rock, blues, and funk. Weiss came to the bass after previously playing guitar, piano, and oboe.
