Drawing into the Solstice: An Introduction to Drawing
Drawing into the Solstice is an introductory drawing workshop for adults who want to develop or revisit the fundamentals of drawing. The session focuses on coordinating observation and hand movement to translate the three-dimensional world onto a two-dimensional sheet of paper. It is intended for absolute beginners as well as anyone returning to drawing, and participants are encouraged to bring curiosity and creativity.
The workshop is led by Catherine McCarthy, a South End–based visual artist whose work is held by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Rose Art Museum; the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park; the Worcester Art Museum; the Fitchburg Art Museum; and other collections. She has taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, the University of Massachusetts, Montserrat College of Art, and other workshops for children and adults at a range of skill levels.
