The Lowest Pair
The Lowest Pair, the modern roots duo of Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee, bring an intimate performance of poetic folk songs, interwoven vocals, and understated string arrangements to Rockport Music. Their music explores emotional contrasts such as grief and joy, uncertainty and clarity, embracing life’s ongoing cycles rather than resolving them into simple opposites.
The performance highlights material from the duo’s eighth album, *Always As Young As We’ll Ever Be*, produced by Tucker Martine of The Decemberists. Winter and Lee are known for a highly responsive musical partnership shaped by active listening, with Winter performing banjo and guitar and Lee contributing to the duo’s string-driven sound. The album expands their traditionally spare approach with contributions from Leif Karlstrom on fiddle, Sydney Nash on bass and piano, and Adam Roszkiewicz on guitar, mandolin, and synthesizer.
