Featuring: The James Hunter Six, James Hunter, McKinley James

The James Hunter Six bring their “Off the Fence Tour” to City Winery Boston with special guest McKinley James. Led by British singer, songwriter, and GRAMMY-nominated performer James Hunter, the six-piece band is known for its gritty vocals, sharp songwriting, and timeless blend of rhythm and soul.

Hunter has spent more than three decades performing worldwide, from intimate clubs to major festivals, and has shared stages with Mavis Staples, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and Van Morrison. The group’s upcoming album, *Off the Fence*, is its first release on Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label and is scheduled for release January 16. The record combines Hunter’s classic songwriting and delivery with a new chapter in his career, including a rare duet with longtime collaborator Van Morrison, “Ain’t That a Trip.” The set is expected to range from energetic R&B to intimate ballads.

McKinley James opens the evening with music drawn from classic American rock and roll, amplified soul, and raw rhythm and blues. His debut album, *Working Class Blues*, reflects his experience performing everywhere from Nashville dive bars to European headline shows. He performs with longtime bandmate and father, Jason Smay, combining Motown-inspired hooks, guitar-driven blues, and roadhouse boogie-woogie.
