The Bowery Presents Liana Flores
The Bowery Presents presents British-Brazilian singer-songwriter Liana Flores at the Arts at the Armory. Flores blends bossa nova guitar and vocals with pop songwriting, drawing on her Brazilian and British heritage and the music of João Gilberto, Bebel Gilberto, Leila Pinheiro, Tom Jobim, Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, and Brian Wilson.
Her music explores loneliness, self-doubt, endurance, human connection, and the experiences of moving from the countryside to the city. After releasing the EPs *The Water’s Fine!* in 2018 and *Recently* in 2019, Flores gained wider attention when “rises the moon” became popular on TikTok and social media in 2021. Her acclaimed 2024 debut album, *Flower of the soul*, was followed by the six-track EP *And so it goes…*, which includes the songs “So it goes,” “So mysterious,” “Here to stay,” and “Silvershoes.” The newer material expands her sound with finger-picked guitar, bossa nova vocals, funk, folk storytelling, and pop melodies.
