(start)over
(start)over is Almond Theatre Company’s premiere production, an absurdist play by Jessica Algard about the instability, possibility, and self-doubt of life in your twenties. After moving to a new city, Young Woman hopes to begin a new job, form friendships, and move forward in her long-term relationship, but the many possibilities ahead prove frightening as well as exciting.
With the strange assistance of her Gaggle—a trio of figures who emerge from her moving boxes—Young Woman tries to rebuild her life. She must navigate her boss’s expectations, the challenge of making friends, questions about whether she wants to marry Young Man, and the seemingly impossible task of unpacking. The play moves rapidly through time, combining everyday concerns with major life changes to capture the tumultuous experience of early adulthood and the ways people try to reason their way through it.
