Drop-In Notary Services

Drop-In Notary Services at the Brighton location offers walk-in notarization during the scheduled open hours. No appointment is required. Documents must be fully completed except for the signatures that need notarization, and signatures must be added in the notary’s presence.

Bring a current government-issued photo ID for every signer, such as a passport, driver’s license, or state ID. If witnesses are required, attendees must provide their own witnesses. For certified copies, bring the original documents as well; photocopiers are available for public use. The service can notarize documents in English only.

Notary requirements: Forms must be complete except for signatures to be notarized. Do not sign documents before meeting with the notary. Each signer must bring an up-to-date, government-issued photo ID.

Witnesses: Attendees must provide any witnesses their documents require.

Certified copies: Bring the original documents when certified copies need to be notarized. Public photocopiers are available at all Boston Public Library locations.
