Exhibition Opening Reception — Rachel King: At the Water's Edge

Rachel King’s *At the Water’s Edge* explores the changing shoreline of Jamaica Pond through photography. The exhibition opening reception, hosted by the Friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library, offers an opportunity to view the work before the exhibit opens and speak with King about her photographs. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibit follows seasonal changes at the pond, including waves, melting ice, shifting light, and reflections that transform familiar forms into abstract patterns. King began photographing the landscape while working in addiction and recovery, using the practice as a way to connect with her local surroundings and community after the overdose epidemic and the intensification of COVID-19. Her daily photographic journal became a way to slow down, notice subtle changes, and mark moments that may never occur in exactly the same way again.
